The Yankees will Scalp the Indians

As if I needed another reason to hate the Phillies (I am a Mets fan), now they are costing me money. They could do nothing against Jeff Francis so I’m back to the drawing board. Tonight, I like the Yankees to beat the Indians.

The Indians ace, CC Sabathia, gets the ball in Game 1. Sabathia finally put that season together that people in Cleveland have been waiting for. The 27-year-old left-hander ended the year 19-7 with a 3.21 earned run average. However, Sabathia has struggled in his career against the Yankees, posting just a 1-7 mark with a 7.13 ERA in eight starts.

In response, the Yankees are starting their own ace, Chien-Ming Wang who won 19 games for the second straight year. Wang, who benefits more than anyone by the Yankees incredible lineup, relies on the ground ball out thanks to a devastating sinker, meaning that Doug Mientkiewicz will likely be playing first base in Game 1. Wang is 1-0 in two postseason starts and is 2-1 lifetime against the Tribe with a 3.72 ERA in three starts.

Cleveland struggled mightily against the Yankees during the regular season, as the Bronx Bombers lived up their name, winning all six matchups by a combined 49-17 score.

These teams have met twice before in the postseason, but have not faced off since 1998 when the Yankees knocked them off in six games of the ALCS. Cleveland, though, defeated the Yankees in five games of the 1997 ALDS.

Past history shouldn’t matter but the Yankees are the better team with the most devastating lineup in the game. Take them and win.
